Episode 16 of Season 2 of Gillespie is my post-primary show and I still can’t get over the Senate race results!   In this show I’m pleased to have U.S. Senate G.O.P. candidate from Indiana, Richard Mourdock return to the show, this time as our General Election candidate.  I talk with him about what it’s been like since his historic victory, we also chat about early polling numbers and he responds to attacks he’s already receiving from Democrats, particularly from former President Bill Clinton.  I also talk with a show regular, National Policy Chairman for the Young Republican National Federation, Dr. Jason B. Whitman.  We also chat about the Mourdock victory as well as the abject failure that is the Obama social media campaign.

It was a busy night this past primary.  I was pulling double duty first doing a special “Snark Factor” with Fingers Malloy and FTRradio.com, then heading over to the Fox59 studios to recap what had just taken place, which was a stunning victory by Richard Mourdock against incumbent Senator  Dick Lugar. Lugar’s loss marked the first time a Hoosier incumbent Senator had lost since then Congressman Dan Quayle beat Birch Bayh (Evan’s daddy) in the 1980 general election.

As always, I provided the Republican perspective while my counterpart Jennifer Wagner provided the Democratic point of view.

Episode 15 of Season 2 of Gillespie is the pre-primary show and it’s a doozy!  This jam packed show features U.S. Senate candidate from Indiana, Richard Mourdock, candidate from Indiana’s 5th Congressional District, Wayne Seybold, Chairman of the Indiana Federation of Young Republicans and candidate for State Senate District 35 Daniel Kinnamon and an update of the Tea Party Express tour from Express Chairman Amy Kremer and Tabitha Hale.  So much show, you don’t can’t miss this!

There are very few people who can take up the mantle of leadership in 6th District that is being vacated by Mike Pence after he decided to run for Governor.  The only person who can who is currently running in the 6th District is Don Bates, Jr.  Don is not a career politician.  He has not is not a perennial candidate for office.  Don is a candidate who responded to a call by community leaders from around the district.  He’s a local businessman who understands what it takes to help bring our country back from economic despair.  With a crowded field running in the 6th District, Don in the only candidate who will put the needs of his constituents first.

If you live in the 6th District, please take the time, if you haven’t already, to check out Don Bates Jr., before you cast your vote.

Daniel Kinnamon isn’t a newcomer to Indiana politics, but he may be a new name to a lot of you.  Daniel is currently the state chair of the Indiana Federation of Young Republicans, but is running against the incumbent Republican.  At a time when many voters are dissatisfied with elected leaders who have “been around a long time”, Kinnamon brings a fresh voice backed by a career in business in the private sector.  Kinnamon’s plans to focus on jobs, education and the state budget would help continue to lead Indiana towards a path to prosperity.

There is a crowded field in the 5th Congressional District, With three of the candidates sniping at each other, I took the time to talk with one candidate who may surprise a few people on election day. Wayne Seybold is the currently the mayor of Marion, but is running to replace the retiring congressman, Dan Burton.

Wayne was recently re-elected to a unprecedented third consecutive term as mayor of Marion. In a city that was dying, he cut unemployment in half, made Marion a place that is thriving economically and creating jobs and has done so with a record of economic conservatism and reaching across the aisle. To paraphrase Congressman Mike Pence, Wayne is a conservative, but he’s not angry about it. Wayne wants to take his vision for economic prosperity and his record of job creation to Washington, DC. If you’re an undecided voter in the 5th District, take the time to listen to this interview with Wayne that originally aired on May 1st.
